Use Website Traffic to Your Advantage

An invaluable resource for your website is the traffic
statistics that get calculated. It's your gauge for website
success.

But do you understand how to use these statistics to work to
your advantage? If you don't then read on...

It is a common mistake to assume that the figures you see in
front of you on the computer screen explain the whole truth.
They do not. Bear in mind that the behavior of visitors
counts for a tremendous amount.

Hits do not accurately portray the entire reality. Hits are
nothing more than information requests filtered through the
server. To use an example, those twelve hits you see might
really just be a single individual viewing only one page of
your site and not looking over the entire package.
Discouraging but true.

A small percentage of traffic can distort the whole. Take
the time and put the effort into looking at the larger
picture. Figuratively speaking, examine the situation under
a microscope.

If people spend a fair amount of time at your website then
that will show in your web traffic statistics. Find out who
is staying, for how long and what in particular holds their
interest.

Do your visitors' stay at your site long enough to look it
over thoroughly and read everything or are they there and
gone in a flash? Do you know? Brief interludes of time for
visits are not enough.

Sometimes graphics and even colors are nerve wracking. Do
you have pictures that jump all over the page? Not all
visitors will appreciate this graphics display. Or perhaps
you have keywords that are somewhat leading? Find out if
your guests are happy once they arrive at your site. If they
are not, then you have work to do.

Your marketing strategy needs to include what motivates web
searchers and what their individual habits are. People can
be fickle. Bear this in mind always.

What weaknesses do your pages exhibit? If people are
vacating certain pages of your site at a swift rate then you
know the news isn't good.

Draw your visitors in as effortlessly as possible. Keywords
and phrases play a big part in making this happen. Your
keywords should summon people with a "come on in!" appeal.

Entice your visitors with catchy phrases and keywords that
clearly illustrate what your website has to offer. And make
sure it has plenty to offer! If your keywords do not
correspond to the site in a connective sort of sense, change
them. Make them more appropriate friendly.

Keywords play a starring role in your website production.
Make sure yours send the proper message and make sure
visitors hear that message, loud and clear.
